Alessandra Smith

Alessandra Smith (she/her) is a first-year graduate student pursuing a Master of City Planning at MIT. Prior to coming to MIT, she received her Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering with a minor in Sustainable Cities at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Before coming to MIT, she worked at Jacobs in the Advance Planning Group as an urban planner. During her time as Jacobs, she applied her background in engineering, by looking at problems from a large and systematic perspective and combining her planning and designing knowledge to prioritize functionality, accessibility, and overall environmental sustainability for individuals and communities.
