CoLab is Hiring a Deputy Director

The MIT Community Innovators Lab (CoLab), a planning and development lab in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning, seeks a Deputy Director. Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Deputy Director will have strategic and operational responsibility,  intentionally, consistently and with rigor helping to set CoLab’s organizational strategy, work to integrate operations with program, and monitor and assess progress towards its implementation.

The Deputy Director will serve as the critical link between CoLab’s programming and operations.  In partnership with the ED, the Deputy Director will facilitate the implementation of current and new projects and programs to insure alignment with strategic initiatives, providing leadership and oversight of the operational functions and systems necessary for CoLab’s continued success and long-term sustainability. In addition, the Deputy Director will coordinate and facilitate the strong collaborative leadership model of CoLab’s Leadership team, and will directly supervise CoLab’s Operations Manager and Administrative staff. The Deputy Director will work with the ED to cultivate CoLab’s Faculty Council and Advisory Board to ensure both are kept abreast of programmatic strategies and challenges, and as necessary, serve as liaison to CoLab’s partners.

The Deputy Director will partner with the ED and her/his peers within the MIT Administration and will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the operational aspects of the talent management systems, organizational learning and evaluation processes, the annual budget process and financial systems. Finally, the Deputy Director will support the ED to cultivate existing relationships with public and private funders and provide oversight in the management of all aspects of the grant cycle (e.g. proposal development, grant award monitoring and reporting).
